Your Child’s 1st Dental Visit

Kids Dentistry

One of the most common questions among new parents is, “When should I start taking my child to the dentist?”

It really is a great question, and many parents do not have all the information they need. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) suggests that children first see a dentist at as early as 6 months old, and no later than their first year of age. After the initial visit, it is recommended that children continue seeing a dentist every 6 months. During the first visit, our dentists and clinical care team are able to educate parents on at-home care and good oral hygiene habits. We’re also able to show parents the proper way children should brush and floss, and we can discuss any dietary recommendations to keep their child’s smile healthy.

Why A Pediatric Dental Office Is Best For Your Child

All of our pediatric dental practices have the technology and equipment to provide the best possible care for our young patients. Ask yourself: Would you take your child to a general practitioner or a pediatrician? The same concept applies to your child’s dental needs. There are several advantages to taking your children to an office that specializes in pediatric dentistry. Although a general dentist is able to provide care for the whole family, a pediatric dentist has specialized in and uses key techniques to help your child feel comfortable and cater to their unique needs as a patient. Typically, children behave differently, and a pediatric dentist will utilize these techniques and their experience with voice control, guidance throughout any emotional state the child conveys, and ease their fears as a result. We are able to make their entire experience a “fun” one with video games appropriate for any age in all locations, movie theaters in our Dacula & Lilburn locations, and surprise visits from our very own dental health ambassador, “Tebo The Tooth!” Tebo also visits hundreds of schools and daycares to host educational dental presentations all throughout Gwinnett and Hall County to explain the importance of practicing proper dental health for children ages K-2nd grade, and he even gives each child a dental kit during National Dental Health Month. The proactive approach of our community service changes the perception of what it means to go to the dentist for a young child, and Tebo’s presence helps reduce anxiety and nervousness children have that are often associated with routine visits to the dentist.

It is our mission to educate you and your family on the benefits of practicing proper oral hygiene for a lifetime. We are committed to offering a patient experience that encourages our guests to want to tell their friends and bring their families. We thank you for your interest in Tebo Dentistry For Kids, and we look forward to seeing you and your child at their next appointment!
